Hoping someone who has been there and back again can share thoughts on this.We have a Juniper SRX210 and are having call quality issues with a new VoIP system.
CoS (prioritizing all packet traffic TO/FROM the VoIP servers above other traffic) seemed to resolve this, yet I still see latency increasing to dangerous levels (150+ms, the usual is 9-14ms) when our pipe is saturated by other traffic flows.This is a high-visibility, politically-charged system so I am worried the latency is indicative of minor or potential issues.
The VoIP vendor requested we do “rate-guaranteeing,” or, “if you have 10mb of bandwidth, make sure that 1mb is always kept back for VoIP traffic." Here’s the problem: I can’t figure out a way to “guarantee” bandwidth for a flow of traffic on the SRX210.
Instead, what I see are a lot of ways to “rate-limit”...
